Indspire Building Brighter Futures Bursaries, Scholarships & Awards for Post-Secondary Education and Skilled Trades

Who can apply?
- There is one application for all of Indspire's bursaries, scholarships and awards, barring a few exceptions. To be eligible for a Building Brighter Futures financial awards applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be an Indigenous person
- Be enrolled in an accredited education program; a professional development program; a continuing education program; a traditional knowledge program or arts training
- Can not be a member of the staff, board or jury at the time of applying for funding support
What will I have to do?
- Complete the application
- Submit Indigenous card (front & back)
- Submit grades
- Submit proof of enrollment
- Submit letter from Indigenous organization regarding educational funding

Nelson Civic Leadership Scholarship
Deadline: August 1, 2024
Award Amount: $10,000
Who can apply?
- Applicant must be in their last year of high school
- Must be a Canadian citizen and a civic leader in your community
- Must have an average above 80%
What will I have to do?
- Complete the online application, including your high school transcript and a reference letter
- You as A Leader Essay: write 500-750 words, about how you demonstrate civic leadership. Please describe the actions you took to contribute to your community, how those actions inspired others, and the results of your civic involvement

University of Manitoba Alumni Association Entrance Scholarship
Deadline: August 1, 2024
Award Amount: $1,000
Who Should Apply?
- Have achieved the minimum admission requirements to any faculty, college or school with a Direct Entry program option (including Uni 1) at the University of Manitoba
- Are enrolled full-time (minimum 80% course-load) in the first years of studies
What will I have to do?
- Completed online application form
- UM Student Number
- 300-word essay that describes the personal significance of becoming a future alumnus of the University of Manitoba

ATCO Indigenous Education Awards Scholarship
Deadline: August 16, 2024
Award Amount: There are three awards available: Merit Awards for students completing Grades 10 – 12, including upgrading, worth $500, Bursaries for students enrolled in trade, diploma or certificate programs, worth $1,000 and Scholarships for students enrolled in degree or graduate programs, worth $1,500
Who Should Apply?
- Canadian Indigenous persons
- Enrolled full-time in high school (including upgrading) or a post-secondary or training program
- Not the child of an ATCO employee
What will I have to do?
- Completed online application
- One reference letter form a teacher, community leader, or employer
- Proof of enrollment for the upcoming school semester

Arctic Physical Therapy Scholarship

Award Amount: $500
Who Should Apply?
- Canadian & US students attending college/university no later than January 2024 (any field of study)
- GPA of 3.0 or higher in last academic year
What will I have to do?
- Completed online application form
- Essay (maximum 1000 words) that outlines at least three ways Physical Therapy can make a difference in someone’s life

Haywood & Hunt Annual Scholarship

Award Amount: $2,500
Who can apply?
- The student must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or have other legal standing
- Accepted or enrolled in a Canadian university or college for the 2023/2024 school year
What will I have to do?
- Write a 500-1000-word essay, topic found on their website
- Applications should be emailed to scholarship@haywoodhunt.ca in Word format, no links to Google Docs or PDF’s
- Applicants should include their name, address and phone number
- The applicant should state where they are currently attending/planning to attend school

Loans Canada’s Financial Literacy Scholarship
Deadline: August 31, 2024 (another round available in November)
Award Amount: $750
Who can apply?
- Canadian citizens/permanent residents 30 years old or younger
- Must be enrolled/accepted for enrolment as a full-time/part-time student at an accredited post-secondary institution
What will I have to do?
- Write an essay/letter discussing how financial literacy has made a difference in your life; how you have budgeted, saved, invested, paid down debt, applied for scholarships, or had a side hustle
- Complete the online application form
- Upload proof of enrolment/acceptance

Sons of Norway Foundation in Canada: Post-Secondary and Trade Bursaries
Deadline: Various Deadlines
Award Amount: $400-$800
Who Should Apply?
- Canadian students pursuing first undergraduate degree or diploma at a Canadian post-secondary institution
- Selection committee will consider financial need, community involvement, connection to the Norwegian community, interest in Norwegian culture, and affiliation with Sons of Norway
- *Note: Candidates who can show proof that 20% of their post-secondary course load relates to Norwegian Language, History, or Culture are also eligible for the Sons of Norway Bjarne and Karel Thorshaug Bursary for Norwegian Studies (see website for details)
