Loran Award-Canadian Merit Scholarship Foundation
Deadlines: October 11, 2024
Award Amount: Renewable for up to four years, with a total value of $100,000, each Loran Award includes:
- An annual stipend of $10,000
- A matching tuition waiver from one of 25 partner universities
- Personal mentorship from a Canadian leader
- Access to our network and up to $10,000 in funding for summer internships in three different sectors
- An orientation expedition through Algonquin Park
- Annual retreats and scholar gatherings
Who can apply?
- Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents who are graduating from their final year of high school
- Must have a minimum average of 85%
- Demonstrate outstanding character, service, and leadership
What will I have to do?
- Submit the following by the deadline:
- Original signed application
- Two photocopies of the completed and signed application
- An original official transcript along with two photocopies
- An additional copy of page 5 of the application
Sponsored applicants: Seek nomination from your school principal or guidance counselor. Submit completed applications to your regional committee.
Direct Pool applicants: Apply without endorsement and submit completed applications to the Direct Pool Committee.

Manitoba Hydro First Year Engineering Bursary
Deadline: October 15, 2024
Award Amount: Three bursaries, each worth $1,500
Who can apply?
- Indigenous students
- Must be enrolled in their first year of studies at:
- University of Manitoba in engineering, or a member of Engineering Access program (ENGAP)
- OR The Transfer Pathway Engineering Program at the University College of the North
- Academic performance, home community, financial need, and community involvement will be considered

Manitoba Hydro Employment Equity Bursary
Deadline: October 15, 2024
Award Amount: Seven bursaries, each worth $1,500 each
Who can apply?
- All applicants must self declare as a member of a designated diversity group
- Academic performance, home community, financial need, and community involvement are considered
- Student must be enrolled in:
- the first year of a 4-year degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Business program at University of Manitoba, University of Winnipeg, or Brandon University
- OR the first year of a 2 to 2.5-year diploma program at Red River Polytech or Assiniboine Community College in:
- Computer Analyst/Programming
- Information Systems Technology
- Business Information Technology
- Engineering Technologies (civil, communications, electrical, electronic, instrumentation, mechanical, or power)
- OR the first year of the 4-year Bachelor of Business Administration degree program at the University College of the North
- OR the Transfer Pathway Engineering program at the University College of the North
- OR the first year of the Business Administration Diploma Program at the University College of the North
