Carpathia School opened its doors to families last week for its inaugural Family Resource Evening. The event ran alongside the school's student-led conference, creating a hub of activity and engagement throughout the building.

Students proudly guided their parents through their recent work and accomplishments. Meanwhile, the gymnasium transformed into a community resource center for the evening.

"We wanted to create a one-stop opportunity for families to connect with valuable community resources," said Principal Amanda Manness. "The response exceeded our expectations."

The gym featured information booths from numerous community organizations. Each booth offered resources and support services available to families in the Carpathia School community.

Sara Riel representatives provided information about mental health services. Winnipeg Harvest shared details about food security programs available to families in need.

Boys and Girls Club highlighted after-school programming options. Charleswood Library staff promoted reading initiatives and upcoming events for children and families.

Fort Garry Women's Resource Center representatives offered information about support services. Families Forward showcased their family counseling and support programs.

Carpathia's Clinical Support Services team was also present. They spoke with parents about the school's in-house support systems for students with various needs.

The evening included a complimentary dinner of beef stew and bannock. The meal created a warm, welcoming atmosphere where families could eat together while exploring resources. IMG_6734N.jpeg

Many parents expressed appreciation for the convenient access to multiple community resources in one location.

The school's Family Resource Committee organized the event. They worked for months to coordinate with community partners and ensure a successful evening.

The positive feedback from families has already sparked planning for next year's event. The school hopes to expand the number of participating organizations and add interactive workshops.

"We're already looking forward to making next year's Family Resource Evening even bigger and better," said Principal Manness. "This is just the beginning of a wonderful new tradition at Carpathia School."
