A living Anishinaabemowin and ininimowin Language School

Our Anishinaabemowin and ininimowin Language Revitalization programs focus on:

  • Daily spoken language in real contexts
  • Storytelling and oral tradition
  • Learning through play, relationships, and experience
  • Strong connection to land and community knowledge

Language is not a subject—it is the way learning happens here.

Multi-Age Learning Community (Grades 1–8)

Students learn in multi-age classrooms from Grade 1 to Grade 8, reflecting how language is naturally acquired in community life. The Classroom Teacher and the students are joined by a Language Teacher/Keeper every day to speak, play and learn in the Language.

This model strengthens language revitalization by:

  • Increasing daily exposure to fluent speakers
  • Supporting learning through observation and participation
  • Creating natural mentorship between older and younger learners
  • Building confidence through authentic conversation

Every child is both a learner and a language keeper.

Learning is active, relational, and grounded in experience:

  • Daily conversation in Anishinaabemowin or ininimowin
  • Storytelling and oral traditions
  • Nature-based learning in local environments
  • Shared learning across ages
  • Play, movement, and real-life interaction

We focus on speaking, listening, and living the language—not memorizing it.

Why Families Choose Isaac Brock Anishinaabemowin or ininimowin Language Revitalization Programs
