A living Anishinaabemowin and ininimowin Language School
Our Anishinaabemowin and ininimowin Language Revitalization programs focus on:
- Daily spoken language in real contexts
- Storytelling and oral tradition
- Learning through play, relationships, and experience
- Strong connection to land and community knowledge
Language is not a subject—it is the way learning happens here.
Multi-Age Learning Community (Grades 1–8)
Students learn in multi-age classrooms from Grade 1 to Grade 8, reflecting how language is naturally acquired in community life. The Classroom Teacher and the students are joined by a Language Teacher/Keeper every day to speak, play and learn in the Language.
This model strengthens language revitalization by:
- Increasing daily exposure to fluent speakers
- Supporting learning through observation and participation
- Creating natural mentorship between older and younger learners
- Building confidence through authentic conversation
Every child is both a learner and a language keeper.
Learning is active, relational, and grounded in experience:
- Daily conversation in Anishinaabemowin or ininimowin
- Storytelling and oral traditions
- Nature-based learning in local environments
- Shared learning across ages
- Play, movement, and real-life interaction
We focus on speaking, listening, and living the language—not memorizing it.
