School Registration Information

Registration for the 2025/26 school year is opening soon, and families often have questions around the process. WSD aims to be clear and concise about registration for the upcoming school year.

Catchment school registration for all WSD schools opens February 10. This is for learners entering a new school in their catchment area. For example, a child entering Nursery or Kindergarten for the first time, a child transitioning to Middle Years, or a child transitioning to Senior Years must all register. However, a child in Grade 3 who will remain at their current school does not need to re-register.

Catchment school registration will be primarily online, through a centralized registration page on WSD’s website. Online registration will go live February 10 at 9:00 AM at winnipegsd.ca/registration. Paper registration forms will still be available at schools.

School of Choice applications for within-division and outside-division students open March 3. A child that already attends a School of Choice does not need to re-apply. The staggered date of School of Choice applications allows WSD to accept students based on the school’s capacity and available resources, in addition to registration guidelines set by the Province of Manitoba. NOTE: all within-division students must apply at their catchment school first before applying for a School of Choice or divisional program.

Application information for School of Choice will be accepted between March 3 and May 15 only. We also attached information about registration in a Frequently Asked Questions document.
