MESSAGE FROM YOUR SCHOOL LEADERS
What an amazing start to the Fall season! The warm temperatures allow us all to see the magic of Fall as the leaves in our community slowly change colour! Our school year at Norquay has started with much joy and excitement. Our students are excited to be back and our staff couldn't be happier to be here with our students, families and community. Thank you for the support, feedback, and encouragement as we’ve commenced our journey of learning together. We also want to acknowledge that school start-up can be overwhelming for some and that we are committed to each others’ wellbeing and our community. If you have a question or concern regarding your child, please contact their teacher first and if required, follow up afterwards with your school leaders at Norquay.
We started the school year with some new and exciting programming at Norquay. This year we have a full-time music teacher, half-time visual arts teacher and an additional half-time physical education teacher! These new additions to Norquay School allow us to provide a music education program to all students, arts education for all students and increased opportunities for physical education for our intermediate students. Our Grade 7 students are thriving participating in our exciting new partnership with RB Russell Vocational School. Please check out our Instagram page to follow our 2024/25 journey!
As your leaders, we are committed to collaboration with our families and community. Norquay School is your school and the hub of the North Point Douglas Community. We believe that supportive communities foster strong families and build successful students. We are actively embedding indigenous ways of knowing and learning in our daily classroom activities and have transitioned to a balanced school day. We are excited to share that we are receiving additional supports form the school division once again this year! We have an Indigenous Instructional Mentor Coach (IIMC) who will be working with our 3/4 and 5/6 teachers and a Full-Time Literacy Support Teacher who will be working with These supports aim to increase levels of reading, writing, and numeracy amongst all of our students.
Remember to contact your child's teacher and the school if you have any concerns.
Looking forward to another wonderful year together,
Colin and Monique
