Physical Education & Extra-Curricular Activities

The primary goal of our physical education program is to assist each child in the development of knowledge, skills, and attitudes that will result in physically active and healthy lifestyles.
Gr. 1 – Our focus is working on the transport skills of the fundamental movement skills (running, skipping, jumping, hopping, and galloping) through games and activities.
Gr. 2-4 – Our focus is working on the transport skills and the manipulative skills of the fundamental movement skills (rolling, bouncing, catching, overhand throwing, underhand throwing striking and kicking) through games and activities.
Gr. 5-6 – Our focus is working on the manipulative skills of the fundamental movement skills. We will also focus on learning sports strategies and rules.
Athletics
Champlain School gives opportunities to students who are in grades 5-6 compete competitively against the other schools in our division in volleyball, basketball, soccer, ultimate football and baseball.
Clubs and Intramurals
Our grade 4-6 students also have opportunities to participate in a variety of lunch time and after-school clubs including badminton, basketball, floor hockey and dodgeball. All students in grades 1-4 are invited to join intramurals. In intramurals grade 5-6 Leadership students lead the students through games and activities while reinforcing respect and sportsmanship.
