Athletics & Extra-Curricular

February 22, 2013

At Clifton School, we provide a program that develops Physical Literacy. Physical literacy is when kids develop the skills, confidence and love of movement to be active for life. Kids develop Physical Literacy gradually through a variety of structured and unstructured activities. This year the focus has been on outdoor pysical literacy. Here are some of the benefits of being outdoors:

  • Learning new skills such as: climbing, swinging and balance.
  • Practicing skills such as: running, kicking, throwing, catching and striking.
  • Learning how to play and cooperate with other students.
  • Learning how to create and run games.
  • Realizing that physical activity can be performed in different environments (in the air, on the ground, on snow and ice).
