Adaptive Skills - Ms Idone

Inkster School is home to a divisional Elementary Adaptive Skills Program (Grades N-6). Eligibility for this program is determined by the Special Education Department using the guidelines outlined on the Winnipeg School Division website. 

  

The goal of the program is to provide the Manitoba curriculum with adaptations, modifications or an individualized curriculum as is appropriate to the student’s potential in the following skill areas: academics, self-management, social/emotional, communication, pre-employment (junior high and high schools), leisure/recreation, community awareness and motor (physical).

 

The Adaptive Skills Program at Inkster School provides meaningful educational opportunities with a focus on inclusion. The students are provided with specialized programming such as Adaptive Aquatics, Dog Therapy, Music Therapy, Fine and Gross Motor programming and Community and social skill experiences. They also have individualized programming and access to specialized materials with support from an Educational Assistant, Special Education Resource Teacher, Occupational Therapist, Speech and Language Pathologist, Physiotherapist, Social Worker and Psychologist as needed.
