February was a month all about jazz music at Mulvey! The Mulvey music learners were introduced to many influential jazz musicians and their music, including Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, John Coltrane, Billie Holiday, Dizzy Gillespie, and many more! Our Mulvey musicians learned about syncopation and swing feel, improvised like Miles Davis, played the drums like Gene Krupa on Sing, Sing, Sing, orchestrated instruments à la Duke Ellington, scat sang like Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald, and even danced the Charleston. 

The Mulvey Choir and Recorder Ensembles continue rehearsing for the upcoming Spring Concert in May and other performance opportunities. Stay tuned for more details and performance dates. 

Looking ahead to March, students will have the opportunity to rehearse and perform in classroom Orff ensembles while learning to read music and develop their musicianship skills. Then, here come the recorders!
